Garden Clubs~A Southern Lady's Tea Party

The Queen was honored to become a member of the Camellia Garden Club in our small Southern town some 13 years ago.  Now as all Southern women know, gardening is not only a duty, but a privilege in the South.  For some of the privileged, it is having a gardener come weekly...and for the dutiful, it is enjoying digging in the dirt or having your sweet, but "cranky" husband carry out these duties...
Now, I love camellias...and my home town in Louisiana, has some of the most beautiful, heirloom camellias this side of the Mason Dixie line...Alabama, too, has their fair share of beauties.  So my gal pal group got together for a "paint night out" and decided to paint a mint julep cup of camellias.
Now, of course, I wanted to "royal mine up some" when I got home. Time is limited at these paint classes & often the Queen doesn't have the time to "accessorize" her painting!
Bloom Where You Are Planted...

Camellia...a true flower of the South
So, I tore the word "Bloom" & "Camellia" from an old dictionary & used Modge Podge to adhere to the painting...
Then I added some dainty little pink flowers...Oh, & my "handy dandy" Cricut (that King Cranky gave me for Christmas) cut out the word BLOOM...and again, I used Modge Podge to glue the letters on...Then after a drying spell, I brushed a high gloss Modge Podge over the entire painting.  Sprayed painted an old frame "blushing pink" and whala...A Masterpiece By the Cranky Queen!

This Friday, the Camellia Garden Club is touring Morgan Creek Vineyards in Harpersville, AL.  Yes, some Southern women like a little wine with our "whine"...and this sweet little spring-time painting will go  home with one lucky garden clubber...I just love door prizes or giveaways...

The Groovy Egg

The Queen was feeling a little "1970's"...so she decided to get her groove on & decoupage another egg.  Now I have been seeing all types of decoupaged or "Modge Podged" eggs in blog-land...A week or so ago, I even made Easter eggs using torn pages from an old hymnal & dictionary, vintage lace & buttons (see previous post "Recycled Nest." But I wanted to to be somewhat of a hippie & "shake things up" from the typical Easter egg...
I found this groovy paper in a magazine advertising scrap booking supplies. Cut out the flowers.  Used gloss Modge Podge to adhere. Added lime ribbon, this great vintage clip-on earring, & gold leaves from a broken bracelet in my junk drawer.

I spray painted a peat pot "eye shadow blue"; placed silver ric-rac around the center; glued a big blue button on the back side & a small button & the other gold leaves on the front.  I then tied a bow using the same lime green ribbon with a blue fauxe rhinestone in the center. I filled the peat pot with light green moss & some shredded paper to "nest" the groovy egg in...

"Stayin' Alive"..."Play That Funky Music".Tiff is gettin' down & gettin' groovy! Come on everybody "Shake Your Booty!"

Just a reminder to enter the 100 Follower Giveaway Celebration at The Cranky Queen...Now 133 Followers. The drawing will be held on Sunday, April 10th by Mr. Cranky King! Keep Calm & Carry On!

Easter Chick...Handmade & From "Scratch"

I just love making these little peat pot baskets.  This one is for a friend who participated in "Play It Forward" on FaceBook. A couple of weeks ago, while we were eating out in one of our favorite local BBQ joints, she shouted across the restaurant..."Still waiting for that handmade gift!"  Well, little did she know, SHE was #4 out of #5 on my list & NEXT!

I just love baby chicks. They are so fuzzy & delicate reminding me of "a new beginning." Perfect for the Easter Celebration of Our Risen Son!

I found this little vintage chick in a package of 4 at a thrift store early in the year. Isn't she adorable! I attached light green binding, a yellow covered-button & a mismatched earring for details.  The pictures are compliments from "The Graphic Fairy" & "Over the Rainebeau" Blog Sites.
My Little Logan at 2 yrs old. I hate to say it, but he was choking that poor bunny!

I rarely find postcards with boys. I found this cutie @ Vintage Dragonfly.
I hope you have a blessed week.  The weather in Alabama is wonderful...blessings from Above! Remember to enter my 100 Follower Giveaway.  See the last post for details.  Thank you to all that have already entered & left such nice comments!  The Queen is much less cranky!

While I have your attention, I had to share what I found on the side of the street in a trash pile yesterday. I made Mr. Cranky stop the car, & I jumped out to scavenge through the "curb side discards."  He began honking the horn, but that did not deter the Queen...I just kept digging until I had loaded up all the treasures!
These precious jigsaw puzzles with the pieces included.  Look at those angelic faces.
