Off the Beaten Path Where Hidden Treasures Are Found & Best Kept Secrets Are Shared

As promised in my last post, Part II of our "royal romp" to Tennessee.  The Cranky Queen & her gal pal, Duchess Melanie, find themselves meandering along winding roads peering out the window to view rolling hills, white fencing as far as the eye can see & nature at its best.  Beautiful, old homes peek out from their manicured lawns, tempted us to stop & beg to be invited in (of course we refrained from doing that, the Southern Women that we are...we do have manners~LOL) & then we saw the sign.
We were greeted by this vintage police car...no arrest made
(on this outing)!
A very nice gentlemen took a snapshot of us in this old relic sitting in the middle of town. Look familiar??? Ki Nassauer sat in this same old jalopy pictured on pg 48 of the FLEA MARKET Style Magazine Fall/Winter 2011!

Our first stop was The Laurel Leaf Gallery where we "ooohed & aaaahed" over all the handcrafted jewelry & pottery and local art.
This was the Cranky Queen's fabulous purchase...a piece of original art by Dorothy Spencer.  Titled "Delta"...It was a 'must have purchase' because I'm originally from the Delta of Louisiana & was raised in Cotton Country.  Don't you love how it is painted on the sheet music?

Our 2nd royal visit was to an incredible "fairytale of a store" Serenite Maison...ooh la la...talking about take your breath away & so great, you want to "slap your Mamma"...Sorry Mamma, but this store's merchandise and displays were out of this world & the Proprietress, Alexandra Cirimelli, was so sweet and kind to allow me to take a few snapshots!

The antique urns were marvelous perched on tables spilling over with the most lush of greenery & moss!

Melanie was ecstatic to purchase a wonderful loving cup to join her collection.  She also found the most dainty hand made paper flowers.
We ended our visit eating at a funky little cafe featuring natural foods at its best.  I mean really good food, not that "no taste" stuff!  Joe Natural's Farm Store Cafe .  Mel & I are both Registered Dietitians, so we were very impressed with their food!
STAY CALM & DRIVE THOSE BACK ROADS!

  12. Thanks for sharing your road trip! I don't get out much anymore so that was a real treat! Just like for real except I wasn't tired from the trip, I stayed within my budget and the gas was FREE! LOL! I love the Delta picture of the cotton ball. I had to go to Memphis (many times) to the doctor and for surgery and to get there my daughter and I traveled through the rice fields of Arkansas but they used to grow cotton there and once in awhile you would still see cotton. (At first we thought it was snow...I told you we were from the North...that proves it!) We stopped and got some that was on "our side" of the fence in a field that had already been picked. And of course, much to my daughter's chagrin...I sang "Delta Dawn" almost the whole trip! LOL! She's a teacher up North and she was able to take the cotton and show her students who had never seen it. Heck! We'd never seen it either! That picture reminds me of our trip. Great stuff and aren't you 2 cute!
