Mother's Day Giveaway...

Mother's Day is right around the corner, so the Cranky Queen thought it would be nice to have a giveaway. I know that most of us consider "motherhood" as the greatest gift that God could give us...so I wanted to make your Mother's Day special from one "mamma" to another...
The old saying "If Mamma Ain't Happy, Ain't Nobody's Happy", holds true in the Queen's house, so I have graciously crafted this altered bottle for one special mother to win!

The top of the bottle using ribbon, lace, old jewelry, buttons...

The back of the bottle graced with old book pages, bits of vintage doilies & embroidery, buttons, jewels, lace & flowers...

Look at this sweet angel's face...
Old netting attached with buttons on the sides....
OK, All you Mothers out there, I know what you are asking yourself?
HOW DO I ENTER THIS GIVEAWAY???
The Cranky Queen is feeling generous today, so I will make it easy...
1.  Leave a comment on my blog telling me a short sweet motherly
memory & tell me if you are a new follower or a current follower.
2.  Grab my Giveaway Button & place on your sidebar for the length
     of the giveaway time frame.
3.  Share my blog site with a friend if you like...

The entries for the Mother's Day Giveaway ends on Tuesday, May 3rd at midnight central time.  Good luck to all you moms that have kissed scraped knees & elbows, brushed tears away, sat in the heat during sporting events biting your nails with anticipation, taxied to ballet & dance, sat through piano & band recitals, held them close when they thought their hearts were breaken, & most of all, loving them eternally no matter what.
Happy Mother's Day from The Cranky Queen!

The Sportsman's Basket

As the Cranky Prince, Logan, has gotten older, the Cranky Queen has had to get a little more creative with his Easter baskets to keep him "in the spirit" of the Easter Bunny...So he being the "outdoorsman" that he is, I (or the Easter Bunny) decided to create a basket that would get his attention.
Camo & Ammo...
The so-called Easter basket was actually an old ammunition box.
He got a "kick" out of the camo eggs with chocolate kisses!

...And the Bass Pro Shop Gift Cards will help him by the specific type of camo truck seat covers that he has been wanting.

So once we got the Cranky Prince out of bed...He enjoyed his "not so typical" Easter Basket!

The Cranky King's Easter Basket.  He collects old & vintage Fireman collectibles.
The Cranky King was "not so cranky" with his new Dremel!
And let's not forget that the Cranky Queen's "Easter Loot" was quite the royal treasure...a Majolica pitcher & wonderful smelling lotions & lets not forget CHOCOLATE!
So Easter has come & gone....I hope that everyone had a blessed day.  Next...it is "junkin'" season...

Easter...The Reason For The Season

I am the good shepherd.  The good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.  John 10:11

The Cranky Queen, King & Prince wish everyone a blessed Easter.
May we all celebrate that our Savior LIVES....

Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.  Hebrews 11:1

Petals From The Past

During the past month, blog land has been filled with all forms & fashions of eggs, bunnies, chicks, spring time decor & more... making us all gasp with delight & head to our studios and work areas to create the newest craft, or to our potting sheds to plant a pot of colorful, breathtaking spring flowers!

While The Cranky Queen's parents were visiting from the Bayou State, we traveled to the well known "Petals From the Past" Gardens & Nursery in Jemison, AL.  http://www.petalsfromthepast.com. This nursery has been featured in well known magazines, such as Southern Living & Southern Lady.  Their popularity grew because of the heirloom & antique roses that are grown & sold there.
Heirloom roses are rooted or propagated from roses existing at the turn of the century & taken from old home places & estates. These roses are resistant to pest & their scent are much more pungent than the hybrids of today. These roses are cuttings from our past & rooted for our lives today.
Petals From The Past specialize in all types of plants, varying from herbs to fruit. The neat thing is...you can actually see these plants in flower beds, climbing on trellises, rooted in ponds, grown in vegetable gardens & potted in containers all centered around the old farm house that displays unique garden accessories.
If you are like me, I often need a "visual" to see it...

Isn't this pot fabulous?  The twisted plant in the center came home with me...
I just love this little rustic house with the tin roof & window box!

I fell in love with the cabbage patches & herb gardens with the concrete & terracotta roosters & bunnies.!

Look at the fence in the background behind the bunnies?

The Signature of God is Written In Flowers...

Take Time to Stop & Smell the Roses...

This is a view of the plants for sale...If you plant it, they will come!

The porcelain orbs came in many sizes & colors. The Queen loves blue...
From our Southern home to yours, The Royal Cranky Family
send you Easter Blessings...

Egg-Citing...The Incredible Non-Edible Egg!

The Royal Grandparents traveled from Louisiana this weekend to visit their daughter, The Cranky Queen, & her family...The stormy weather put a "damper" on watching the Cranky Prince play soccer, so more decoupaged eggs were created...these will be used for the Lady's Day Luncheon table decorations that Granny Cranky is helping to host.

We used spring-like wrapping paper purchased @ BIG LOTS to decoupage these eggs, & embellished with ribbon, ric-rac, old tatting & buttons.

I still enjoy using old pages torn from books for the vintage look.  Bits & pieces of lace, crocheted doilies & buttons were used for "egg-citement!"

This little crackled bunny was purchased at Chelsea Antique Mall in Chelsea, AL earlier in the week.  The Queen could not resist his aged patina.  He will live my other bunny planters.
These blue & white eggs were made from wrapping paper found at a yard sales last summer.  They look perfect with my blue NILOAK pottery.
   For a quick tutorial:
1.  Purchase plastic Easter eggs from local dollar or thrift store.
2.  Tear wrapping paper or old pages from books into small pieces.
3.  Using a small brush, cover a small area of egg with Glossy Modge Podge & begin adhering paper to egg.
4.  Overlap as needed to cover the entire egg.
5.  Re-coat egg with Modge Podge.  Allow to dry.  I used a blow dryer to speed up drying time.
6.  Once egg is dry, glue lace, buttons, bits & bobs to egg & allow to dry.
7.  Enjoy!
The Royal Family wishes you & your family Blessed Easter Greetings
this week! Stay Calm & Get Egg-cited!
