Well, I hope everyone in blogland is doing well. I wanted to share with all of ya'll what I did at "Gal-Pal's Craft Night Out" last week. My friend, Wanda, at http://shopjustvintage.com said that we should do a peat pot craft. I don't know about ya'll, but the word "peat pot" sounds just a little disgusting. I then said "a what pot?" Then she explained what peat pots were, & that they are typically used to start seedlings. So, I started looking at different magazines, & I found lots of cute peat pot ideas!
I tore pages from an old encyclopedia & used Modge Podge to adhere pieces to the pot. I found this great bird image on Graphic Fairy's blog. Added a old earring for some "bling"!
I tucked some green moss into the pot. Feathers, light green lace & an egg were the final touches. I just love it! It is "perched" among all of my nest collection.
I added some egg images on the back courtesy of Graphic Fairy.
The next peat pot is my favorite, since I am often referred to as "Queen Bee!" I glued brown silk ribbon to the rim of the pot & attached odd jewelry from earrings & cuff links. I chose to keep the natural pot & added the bee images from Graphic Fairy.
I filled the pot with brown moss, shredded hymnal paper & a wasp nest
The back of the pot has a picture of a hive with bees. I used distress ink to make the image look old. The Cranky Queen is "happy" with her new creation!

ReplyDeleteYours turned out so cute. Mine = yuck. Back to the drawing board for me.
ReplyDeleteHey, remember the necklace you liked? I decided to have a give-away on the blog. A candle and that necklace, mainly because the picture I had of the candle had the necklace in it. So it goes, too.
Tiff,
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that pot with the big bee on it.
Wondering what the filler is you used? It is so dark brown?
Thanks for coming by my place and leaving a comment.

ReplyDeleteHi Tiffany,
ReplyDeleteHopefully I'll be around when you make it to Pelham. I'm working some at Encore now.
I just bought some peat pots but not to do anything this cute with them. I just want to use them in a garden display. But I might be chaning my mind!
I also like the wasp nest. I picked up a couple not to long ago and Mr. EA tried to THROW them away!!! Of course I got the look when I stopped him. ;-)
Hope to meet you in person soon.
Joyfully,
Elizabeth Ann

Hey Cranky Queen, Love what you did with the brown pots. I love those little things. I bought them in 8 pot sections and planted grass in them. They will march down the center of my long country table for the Easter dinner centerpiece (at least...that's the plan). And who knew??? I just cleaned out wasp nest from the bird houses this week. Should have saved them...LOL. Have a wonderful weekend. Oh...and check the link to your blog. It's not working. May need to change your settings. :)
ReplyDeleteLove it! And the wasp's nest adds just the right touch! Can't wait to see your addition to my Do You Toile? Party ~ the link's open till midnight CST Sunday!

Hi Tiffany,
ReplyDeleteComing over from The Graphics Fairy to check out these very cute peat pots. I had a boxful of peat pots and I do believe I donated them a couple of years ago when I was in an organization mode!! I do love yours.
