Toile fabric is timeless. You can pick up decorator magazines and books from 20 years ago, & toile is featured in wallpaper, upholstery, bedding & more. Although the colors of toile have changed & expanded over the years, it still is one of my favorite fabrics. Versatile as timeless...it can be used in areas as soft as baby's nurseries to as funky as teenager's hangouts! Today, I am sharing our master bedroom, & guess what??? There will be toile...
I knew this was the perfect fabric when I saw the muted teal, olive & tan colors. The fabric is Martha Stewart. The bedding is an olive tone damask-type fabric backed with light teal suede. I chose "tempting teal" paint for the walls by Sherwin Williams.
This chippy aged birdcage perches at the foot of our bed on a table that I painted and distressed. The birdcage was purchased from Sassy Trash at Lakewood 600 in Georgia.
These vintage pictures watch over us while we sleep...
I enjoy grouping things that I have collected over the years...porcelain, sterling, vintage jewelry, old books, lithograph tins, cameos...
I have several things that "draw me in" when antiquin'...one includes vintage lithographs & pictures of children and women...
This little sad child looks like members of my mother's family. I
look at her (or him) and see my mamma & aunts as children...
This damsel is one of my favorites that hangs next to "my side" of the bed above the nightstand. The frame was in horrible condition when I found her in a store in W. Monroe, LA. The picture was literally stuck to the glass, so I carefully stripped and refinished the frame. Oak!
You have had the "privilege" of viewing the Royal Suite!
So until we meet again. Keep Calm and Carry On!

I am a toile lover from way back! Yes, it is timeless. Your pictures are gorgeous too. Good thing you left the one picture alone that was stuck to the glass, you got some amazing results.
ReplyDeleteMagazines from the 1950's show toile, and you know it goes further back than that! Lovely, lovely post. :)
