Garden Clubs~A Southern Lady's Tea Party

The Queen was honored to become a member of the Camellia Garden Club in our small Southern town some 13 years ago.  Now as all Southern women know, gardening is not only a duty, but a privilege in the South.  For some of the privileged, it is having a gardener come weekly...and for the dutiful, it is enjoying digging in the dirt or having your sweet, but "cranky" husband carry out these duties...
Now, I love camellias...and my home town in Louisiana, has some of the most beautiful, heirloom camellias this side of the Mason Dixie line...Alabama, too, has their fair share of beauties.  So my gal pal group got together for a "paint night out" and decided to paint a mint julep cup of camellias.
Now, of course, I wanted to "royal mine up some" when I got home. Time is limited at these paint classes & often the Queen doesn't have the time to "accessorize" her painting!
Bloom Where You Are Planted...

Camellia...a true flower of the South
So, I tore the word "Bloom" & "Camellia" from an old dictionary & used Modge Podge to adhere to the painting...
Then I added some dainty little pink flowers...Oh, & my "handy dandy" Cricut (that King Cranky gave me for Christmas) cut out the word BLOOM...and again, I used Modge Podge to glue the letters on...Then after a drying spell, I brushed a high gloss Modge Podge over the entire painting.  Sprayed painted an old frame "blushing pink" and whala...A Masterpiece By the Cranky Queen!

This Friday, the Camellia Garden Club is touring Morgan Creek Vineyards in Harpersville, AL.  Yes, some Southern women like a little wine with our "whine"...and this sweet little spring-time painting will go  home with one lucky garden clubber...I just love door prizes or giveaways...
Compliments of The Graphic Fairy...the Camellia...Stay Calm & Keep Gardening!

  2. You prettied it up real good! Mine's still lying on the counter where it landed when I got home that night. Not sure there's any hope for it other than painting over it and letting someone with talent paint a picture.
