The Cranky Queen's Castle: Part I

Hope all my blog friends are having a blessed Sunday.  Today, The Queen thought that she would share a "glimpse" inside the Royal Castle...Starting with the Keeping Room off the Kitchen.

The mantle is French purchased from The Nest in Homewood, AL. The windmill picture hanging above the mantle is from upstate New York.  Tricia's Treasures, also in Homewood, purchased it from an elderly couple that had lived in the same loft apartment for over 50 years.  It is one of my favorite paintings
Blue Transferware, Shabby candlesticks and old books find their home on the mantle...The blue piece of concrete is from a building destroyed in Mexico after the Rita Hurricane!

The memory jug on the far left was purchased in Munich Germany at a local flea market.  It is by far my favorite piece!  Customs seized the vase when we were checking our luggage in the Germany Airport.  After detailed questions, scanning the vase many times & scaring me to death, they returned the jug to me.  It rode in may lap the entire 13 + hrs. flight back to Alabama!  The Shell memory vases are also so precious to me...
Peters Pottery Bunnies & vase along with an antique pitcher purchased from a local dealer in Madrid Spain grace the right side of the mantle.  Peters Pottery is a well known pottery in Mississippi.
An up-close look at the French mantle.
A collection of plates hang on the wall...

The second area is the great room mantle.  As you can see, The Queen adores architectural pieces.
The clock was inherited from my Great, Great Aunt.  The other items are just pieces I have picked up on my antiquing journeys.

I love any type of architectural iron!
The old window that hangs above the mantle came from an old elementary school in Alexander City, AL.
This marble piece serves as a sofa table.  It displays many of my nest & bird collectibles!

The Queen loves door knobs...
This wire basket sits on the coffee table filled with mercury-type balls and little baby image pillows.
This piece was purchased in Marietta, Georgia & sits on the wall behind the sofa. This picture doesn't do this piece "justice", because it is a beautiful piece.  I will try & get a close-up on Tour #2.
Majolica pitchers & a funky flower frog!
So many collections...these are green transferware butter pats.

I fell in love with this dessert server at Scott's Antique Market in Atlanta, GA & purchased in from a dealer from Memphis, TN.  It sits in a little alcove at the end of a long hall.  Brown transferware and olive jars are a few items displayed here on this piece.

Well, I will stop here, today, on the Royal Tour...Pictures are hard to capture the entire room. I will try & use better photography skills on my next post.

From The Steers' Home to Yours (or better known as "The Cranky Family")...Just Remember...A home is only a home when love abides there & the Lord is honored.  Have a blessed Sunday!

  25. This is my first visit here and I enjoyed the tour so much. Love the green butter pats. I'm in the market for a few myself in green. They are a little dear in these parts so I'm hoping to find a few at a bargain price. Keep looking right? That'a where the fun is.
    It's nice to meet you.
