The Queen's Re-make's & Re-Do's

To bring everyone "abreast" of the what the Cranky Queen has been doing with her "oh so precious time", she thought that she should share her re-make showing a BEFORE & AFTER...Above being the after.  I purchased this little letter/bill holder for 50 cents at a thrift store.
This is what it looked like before...So, what do you think?  I spray painted it with flat white paint; lightly sanded the edges to show just a little of the original green paint; then I browsed The Graphics Fairy for the perfect bird and egg images; printed on card-stock; cut out; darkened the edge with aging ink; tore pages from an old book (that had seen better days) & used Modge Podge to adhere. I also used a large vintage button & glue green moss & 2  plastic eggs for "a nest look." This chic's flown the coop!
Now it is ready to be priced & "flown" to my booth.

Next the Cranky Queen will give a tutorial making a nest from a vintage crocheted doily. You are getting a "birds eye view"....
1. Saturate the doily in Fabric Stiffener.
2. Cover the bowl with saran wrap to make it easier to pull away from the bowl once it is dry.

3. Place the doily over the bowl.
4. Place another bowl over the doily to help shape.
5.  Once dry, remove bowls and the doily looks like this~STIFF
6. I wove a green ribbon thru the holes of the doily; added shredded hymnal paper & green moss for filler; 3 river rocks posed as eggs; old feather from a wedding fountain pen & graphic (Graphics Fairy) of a vintage bird cage.
STAY CALM & GO MAKE SOMETHING!

  12. Oh, my goodness! You hopped right on that and it's perfect! Love, love, love it!

And it's funny that you did the doily. A few weeks ago I was going to do the same thing. Thought I had some Stiffy around here, but couldn't find it, so scrapped the idea. What's funny is I never mentioned it to you, but you had it on your mind to do, too. Our brilliant minds. Now if I could just put these ideas into action like you do.......
